In line with requests from users we have made changes to allow you to import companies into Inform Direct without sending submissions to Companies House arising on differences in the personal details of individuals.
When a company is imported from Companies House the personal details sent may have inconsistencies between the different roles – officer and PSC. These differences could be the individual’s:
- name
- date of birth
- residential address
- nationality
- country of residence
To help with the administration of your companies it is best to have just one record in Inform Direct for an individual so these inconsistencies need to be resolved.

To allow you to import your companies with an individual having different roles for a company merged into one record in Inform Direct this update now lets you proceed without immediately sending submissions to Companies House.
You will still be able to make the submissions on import, which is preferable as they are done there and then. However, there will be the option on the Summary screen to ‘Resolve later’ these personal details differences for individuals.
This will then let you get the necessary approval from your clients before submitting the necessary changes to Companies House.
Resolving differences later
If you choose to resolve differences later then a notification will be on the company’s dashboard detailing the difference with the ability for you to submit the necessary change.
These notifications are the same as we introduced in December 2022 for discrepancies arising at Companies House after a company has been imported into Inform Direct.
These notifications either provide you with the means to submit the changes to Companies House or explain the steps that you need to take:
- names;
- dates of birth; and
- residential addresses.
You can, alternatively, use the standard edit person details process to update the name and / or residential address where they should be different from that shown in Inform Direct. This will give subscribers access to our approval process to get approval from your clients.
