Record company formation in London despite Brexit fears

Despite political and economic uncertainty, there were record numbers of people taking the step to form a company in London in 2018. 217,617 companies were formed in the capital, which eclipsed the previous high of 209,869 in 2016. Nearly a third of the 669,855 new UK companies formed in 2018 were based in London.

There were 23,773 new companies formed in Camden, 21,236 in Hackney, 18,453 in Islington, 17,518 in Westminster and 10,134 in Newham.
