The U.K. saw an increase in overall company incorporations during 2020

As the pandemic, numerous lockdowns, and Brexit took over our everyday lives, there was a record number of new companies formed across the country. 780,766 company  incorporations were recorded across the country; an 8.2% rise from 2019.

The West Midlands alone accounted for 37,202 companies. Greater Manchester registered 36,288 incorporations, West Yorkshire had 22,615 and London once again recorded the most with 270,114.  This brought the total number of registered businesses in the United Kingdom at the end of 2020 to 4,837,426.
