Disturbing signs for business community as new company startups in Worcestershire stutter

There was some concern about the entrepreneurial performance of Worcestershire, as the number of companies started there fell on an annual basis. The 6,889 companies formed in the county in 2018 compared to 7,804 in 2017. With more companies dissolved (8,175) than formed in Worcestershire in 2018, the total population of companies fell from 38,764 at the close of 2017 to 37,800 at the end of 2018.

Across the county, entrepreneurial performance was mixed. There were 3,626 new companies started in Bromsgrove, 942 in Wychavon, 624 in Worcester, 620 in Redditch, 585 in the Wyre Forest and 487 in the Malvern Hills.
