Startup companies in the West Midlands set new record

2018 brought a new record in the number of new startup companies in the West Midlands. The 32,571 new companies started in the year eclipsed the previous highest annual figure of 31,162, which was set in 2016. The total number of companies now based in the West Midlands stands at an all time high of 167,807.

There were great performances across the West Midlands, with 18,704 companies started in Birmingham, 3,466 in Coventry, 2,523 in Sandwell, 2,044 in Wolverhampton and 1,989 in Dudley.
