Number of companies based in Staffordshire at all-time high

Staffordshire saw a year on year increase in company formations in 2018, with a total of 6,474 companies formed just exceeding the 6,449 companies started in 2017. It means the number of companies based in the county reached an all-time high, standing at 48,752 at the end of 2018.

Company formation activity was strong across Staffordshire. There were 1,425 companies formed in Stoke-on-Trent, 826 in Lichfield, 790 in East Staffordshire, 716 in Stafford, 672 in Newcastle-under-Lyme, 605 in Cannock Chase and 590 in South Staffordshire.
