Record-breaking company formation in Northern Ireland in 2018

Entrepreneurs in Northern Ireland set a new record for company formation in 2018. The 8,137 companies formed in Northern Ireland during the year easily exceeded the previous record of 7,398 from 2017. The trend upward for company formation in Northern Ireland has been a steady, consistent one over the last five years.

2,074 companies were formed in Belfast in 2018, 1,447 in Newry, Mourne and Down, 716 in Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon, 572 in Derry and Strabane and 536 in Mid Ulster.
