Growth in new company startup in Greater Manchester

Greater Manchester witnessed growth in entrepreneurial activity in 2018, with an increase in the number of people making the move to start a company. 184,396 new companies were started in Greater Manchester in 2018, compared to 177,360 in 2017.

Startup activity was strong across the whole of Manchester. There were 9,162 new companies set up in central Manchester, 3,536 in Bolton, 3,488 in Trafford, 3,074 in Stockport, 2,909 in Bury, 2,753 in Salford and 1,869 in Wigan.
