Number of companies based in East Sussex at all-time high

East Sussex celebrated a year on year increase in company formations in 2018, with a total of 7,462 companies formed just exceeding the 7,318 companies started in 2017. It means the number of companies based in the county reached an all-time high, standing at 66,405 at the end of 2018.

Across East Sussex, there was evidence of strong entrepreneurial activity. Brighton and Hove led the way with 3,877 company formations. There were 1,156 new companies formed in Wealden, 772 in Eastbourne, 575 in Rother, 563 in Hastings and 513 in Lewes.
