Further increase in companies set up in Cumbria in 2018

Cumbria experienced a further uptick in company incorporations in 2018, as 2,259 companies were set up over the year. That compares favourably with the 2,215 companies established in 2017 and 1,979 in 2016. It brings the total number of companies based in the county to 20,916 at the end of 2018.

Those looking to set up a company in Cumbria were spread across the county. There were 542 companies set up in Carlisle, 535 in South Lakeland, 466 in Allerdale and 354 in Barrow-in-Furness.
