West Yorkshire hits new record number of companies in 2023

West Yorkshire’s entrepreneurs had a productive year in 2023, forming 24,534 new companies and bringing the total of businesses registered in the county to 153,003.

This successful figure was somewhat tempered by the fact that the number of new companies formed actually dropped slightly against 2022’s figure of 25,517, and company dissolutions were up from 17,005 to 21,511. These figures mean that West Yorkshire drops a place in the national counties league table of company formations, losing its fourth place to Essex and dropping to 5^th.
