Record growth of new companies in West Midlands in 2023

A record 44,594 new business were formed in the West Midlands in 2023, a very healthy growth of 13.3% over 2022. It boosted overall company numbers in the county by 7.4% to 227,431.

Despite this strong growth, the West Midlands still lost out to Greater Manchester in total company numbers, which stole second place from it in the national league table of registered companies. Nevertheless, the West Midlands was still second only to London in company formations in 2023.
