Tyne and Wear drops 2 places in league table despite record year for company formations

More companies were formed in Tyne and Wear 2023 than in any previous year – 8,274 – but the county lost out to Cambridgeshire and Dorset to fall 2 places in the national league table of company formations. 8,274 new businesses were incorporated in Tyne and Wear in 2023 versus 7,838 in 2022 – giving a growth of 5.6% in formations. Overall company numbers grew by 3.4%, bringing the new total to 53,391. Tyne and Wear currently sits at 30^th in the national company formations county league table.
