Hampshire stays strong on company formations in 2023 – but growth has flattened off

Hampshire has kept its 7^th place in the national league table of company formations, having turned in a successful, if unspectacular, performance in 2023. 15,385 companies were formed in 2023, up by 5.9% on 2022. This took the total number of companies registered in the county to 126,128 – a rise of 1.5%. Hampshire usually gives a solid account of itself in entrepreneurial terms, and 2023 was no different, with the total number of companies continuing to grow – but at a slower rate, which has flattened off over the last three years. Company dissolutions were about the same as in 2021 at 13,203. With formations staying ahead of dissolutions, Hampshire has stayed strong – in 2023.
