Derbyshire hits record high number of companies in 2023

Despite a slight drop in company formations year on year, Derbyshire ended 2023 with a record number of registered businesses.

7,528 companies were formed in 2023 versus 7,764 in 2022, meaning growth has slowed slightly, but there were still more registered companies in the county than ever before: 57,297. This was 2.9% more than at the end of 2022. Derbyshire is still showing growth despite a difficult business environment including high costs and rising interest rates.
