Company formations in Cornwall reach a record high

Not only were there more companies in Cornwall at the end of 2023 than ever before, but the county also saw a record number of new companies formed: 3,074 versus 2,912 the previous year. This brings the total number of companies to an all-time high of 26,998.

Company formation activity is unsurprisingly lower than the national average in Cornwall: 5.7 new incorporations per 1,000 people versus 14.2 nationally. Cornwall stands 42^nd of all English counties in total companies, and for a largely rural and remote county that is to be expected. However in percentage growth of company numbers, Cornwall sits at around the national average.
