A successful year for company formations in Cheshire – but slower growth than last year

At the end of 2023 there were 82,175 companies registered in Cheshire. This is slightly up on 2022 but down on 2021 by 1.5%. Company formations show a similarly mixed picture, with 9,952 in 2023 versus 9,335 in 2022 but 9,800 in 2021. Cheshire keeps its 15^th place in the national league table of company formations but again, it was doing better at 13^th in 2021. Good news is that formations per 1,000 people are slightly up at 9.7 versus 2022’s 9.1 and 2021’s 9.5.
