Concern in business community as number of companies based in Surrey at an almost standstill.

10,902 new businesses were formed in Surrey during 2022 – the lowest number in over 10 years – resulting in a very unenthusiastic growth rate of 0.9%.

Whilst Surrey generally sees an impressive number of new company incorporations, often sitting in the top 12 on the company formation league table, the overall growth in the county is stunted by a significant number of dissolutions.

This means that despite an impressive 94.9 companies per 1000 people by the end of 2022, Surrey sees a lacklustre 5 year growth rate of 10.84% underperforming the national 5 year growth rate of 27.1%.
