Company formations in Suffolk hit an all-time high in 2022.

Continued business optimism saw a marked expansion in the total number of companies registered in Suffolk with 45,867 businesses based in the area by the end of 2022. This represented annual growth of 9.6%, an impressive achievement when compared to the average growth rate returned by the UK as a whole of 4.6%. Nor is this an isolated accomplishment. The number of companies registered in Suffolk has increased by almost 31% over the last 5 years, again outperforming national growth of 27.1% over the same period.

It is a bit of a mixed picture however when adjusting the numbers for the population – the county falls short of the national average of 82.7 for total companies per 1000 people at 62.8.
