The total number of companies registered in North Yorkshire reaches record high during 2022.

After a disappointing 2021, growth in the total number companies in North Yorkshire recovers well sitting at 4.2% – only slightly below the national growth rate of 4.6%. With 8,424 new business formed in the area during 2022 – the most successful year yet – it is clear that business optimism has returned to the county. This is further evidenced by North Yorkshire moving up a position in the company league tables.

There was a strong performance across the region with Middlesbrough accounting for the majority of companies formed with 1,600 formations. Harrogate saw 1,421 new companies whilst York recorded 1,360 incorporations
