The number of new companies formed in Cornwall during 2022 is the lowest since 2018.

Perhaps unsurprisingly giving its location, the total number of companies in Cornwall per 1000 people is almost half the national average at 48.2. With 2,912 companies formed in Cornwall during 2022 – the lowest for the county since 2018 – this brings the total number of companies registered to 25,857 meaning the county still shows an encouraging growth rate of 4.5%,

This is in part assisted by the number of businesses closing their doors during 2022 following the national trend and falling by 4.7% compared to 2021.
