West Yorkshire is the 5^th highest county in terms of total existing companies after a strong 2021.

With 22,140 new companies being formed in West Yorkshire in 2021 bringing the total number of companies registered in the county to 141,120, it is no surprise that the West Yorkshire is only 828 companies away from taking 4^th spot on the company league table.

Across the UK there was a rise of 45% in the number of existing businesses that ceased trading during the year. Unfortunately, this is also true of West Yorkshire with more companies than ever before closing down: 17,256, representing a 42.13% increase on 2020.

That said, West Yorkshire boasts a growth rate for the year of 4.3% with the total number of companies registered in the county increasing by almost 25% since 2017.
