Somerset continues impressive 10-year pattern of continuous growth.

With a noteworthy 7,057 new companies formed in Somerset in 2021 the county achieves a respectable growth rate on 2020 of 4%, ever so slightly above the national rate of 3.5%, albeit not quite competing with the preceding couple of years. Whilst certainly an achievement, the number of new incorporations could be considered slightly disappointing when considering this is only 7.8 per 1000 people – below the national average of 12.2.

In addition to this, 5,667 existing companies closed down. This is a record high for Somerset and an increase of 45.34% on the preceding year.
