New business growth in Shropshire at a virtual standstill as growth in the county hits a record low.

With almost as many businesses closing down as were opened in Shropshire during 2021 – 2,811 and 2,914 respectively – it is a little wonder that growth in the county sits at a disappointing 0.6%. This is both substantially below the UK growth rate of 3.5% and the slowest growth seen in the county in recent years.

This is further reflected in the number of new incorporations per 1000 people sitting at 31.2% below the national average earning the county a disappointing 42^nd position on the company formation league table.
