Growth in Merseyside during 2021 declines after an impressive 2020.

Growth in Merseyside could not compete with 2020 sitting at 4.3% for 2021 – still, however, quite a feat against the national growth rate of 3.5%. This was almost certainly held back by a record number of existing businesses closing. 10,601 companies were dissolved in Merseyside during 2021, a staggering 52.4% more closures than the preceding year.

That said, with 13,108 new companies formed the county maintains a strong 9^th position on the company formation league table and remains a popular location for new company formations.
