Company incorporations in Essex in 2021 reflect wider UK performance

Whilst Essex didn’t quite match the record-breaking feat of the previous year, still 18,584 new companies were formed in the county in 2021. Although this strong performance was somewhat undermined by the record number of companies ceasing to trade over the same period, the total count of businesses registered in Essex nevertheless grew by 3.4% over the year – comparable to the performance of the UK as a whole (which saw growth of 3.5% over the same period). Overall, this meant that Essex was able to hold onto fourth place in the 2021 league table of total companies registered by county.
