Mixed picture for company registrations in Derbyshire in 2021

Derbyshire didn’t quite manage to match the record number of new company registrations achieved last year, with 7,261 new businesses created during 2021. That compares to 7,413 formations in 2020 and brings the total number of companies based in Derbyshire to a new peak of 53,394.

However, reflecting difficult times, 5,840 existing businesses ceased trading in Derbyshire in 2021 – a new and unwelcome record. This represented an annual increase in the rate of dissolved companies of 49.1%.
