A few weeks ago we added the ability to record Companies House personal codes for officers and PSCs. Since then many of you have started recording these, which is fantastic!

This update adds more features to help you manage Companies House personal codes, including:

  • Bulk updating of the Companies House personal code of the same person on multiple companies in one go
  • Viewing at a glance which officers and PSC have a Companies House personal code recorded
  • Updating of existing reports to help see and manage who still needs a Companies House personal code added
  • The ability to add Companies House personal codes when adding officers and PSCs, and when forming companies

There will be more releases in the coming months to further help you be ready for the upcoming parts of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act.

Bulk updating Companies House personal codes

When you enter the Companies House personal code for an officer or PSC, if there are other persons on your account with the same name and date of birth you will be asked if you want the Companies House personal code to be added to them too (with just a single click!).

See who has a Companies House personal code recorded

To help you see which directors, LLP members and PSCs still need their Companies House personal code recorded you can:

  • Run one of the ‘Person’ reports as these now include a new field that will show a masked Companies House personal code for those that have them recorded
  • View the icon in the officers and PSCs grids which denotes if that person has a Companies House personal code entered

Enter Companies House personal codes in more processes

You can now enter Companies House personal code in the following processes:

  • Appointing directors and LLP members
  • Adding PSCs
  • Forming companies

Companies House personal codes can now be added in these processes but will not be sent to Companies House in these submissions (e.g. officer appointment) until Companies House release their changes to receive these personal codes later this year.

Still more to come …

As we head towards the end of the year where the identity verification part of the ECCT Act should come into force (date not yet announced by Companies House) there will be more releases to help you prepare every step of the way:

  • Identity checks – We’ve partnered with Credas, a superb identity checking specialist that will be integrated into Inform Direct. You will be able to initiate biometric identity and address checks from within Inform Direct and Inform Direct will help you manage this process, helping to make sure identity checks are completed by the correct people before the deadline for each company.
  • Process and Companies House filing changes – later this year Companies House (date TBC) are making changes to quite a few filings (such as providing the Companies House personal code of officers and PSCs in the confirmation statement). We’ve been involved with this with Companies House for some time and are already working on these changes to filings and the processes used to generate those filings so that we will be ready for the when Companies House enforce these changes.

Please let us know your feedback

Please do let us know about any other enhancements or feature recommendations that would improve Inform Direct for you, especially if related to identity checking and other upcoming ECCT act requirements.

Our commitment to improving Inform Direct can be seen on our timeline of updates, past, present and future.
