The total number of companies in Wiltshire is at a virtual standstill as growth in 2021 is disappointingly low.

With almost as many businesses closing down as were opened in Wiltshire during 2021 – 4,387 and 4,432 respectively – it is little wonder that growth in the county sits at a disappointing 0.8%. This is substantially below the UK growth rate of 3.5%.

This is further reflected in the number of new incorporations per 1000 people sitting at 6.5, notably below the national average of 12.2 earning the county a disappointing 39^th position on the new company formation league table.
