Challenges of another year of lockdown evident in Warwickshire as growth hits a 10 year low.

The number of businesses closing down in Warwickshire during 2021 was almost on par with the number of new businesses opening their doors at 4,641 and 5,117 respectively. This amounts to a disenchanting overall growth rate for the county of just 1.1%.

The numbers become even more disheartening when considering the 5 year growth rate for Warwickshire is just 13.07% meaning that over the medium term the region has very much underperformed the UK average growth rate of 26.3%.

Despite this, Warwickshire bucks the national trend with the number of new companies being formed increasing by 4% on 2020. With 74.5 companies existing in the county per 1000 people by the end of 2021, Warwickshire is not to be disregarded just yet.
