Impressive company registration activity in Buckinghamshire in 2021

Although company start up activity in Buckinghamshire didn’t quite reach the record levels of 2020, still an impressive 8,910 new companies were formed in the county in 2021. Buoyant company formation activity was seen across all districts, with a total of 3,407 new businesses registered in Milton Keynes, 1,818 in Wycombe, 1,550 in Aylesbury Vale, 1,216 in South Bucks and 894 in the Chilton region.

However, with the rate of dissolved companies rising by 29.7% last year, growth in the overall number of businesses based in Buckinghamshire was held back to a modest 1.2%. Nevertheless, this continued a trend towards growth, with the total number of companies based in Buckinghamshire rising from 64,538 in 2017 to 74,634 in 2021, an expansion of 15.6% over the five year period.
